Location and services


Wrens Nest is located in the conservation area close to the old Parish Church in High Street.  Jackdaw Cottage is also located in the same conservation area some 1/4 mile away close to Kenilworth Castle and "Little Virginia". Both Cottages are situated in the historic town of Kenilworth, in the leafy county of Warwickshire. They are sited in the conservation area surrounding Kenilworth Castle and St Nicholas Parish Church. 


  • Bed linen and towels (1 hand, 1 bath towel per person & kitchen towel, tea towels & bath mat set) included in the price.
  • Electricity is included in the price for both cottages.
  • Broadband Wi Fi throughout.
  • Gas central heating/hot water is included in the price for both cottages.
  • Hairdryer, soap, toiletries, and toilet rolls provided.
  • The kitchens are exceptionally well equipped with cooking utensils and tableware.
  • Essential kitchen requirements are provided (e.g.: washing-up liquid, auto powder, salt/pepper, kitchen paper etc)

General Information

  • Welcome tray, (tea/coffee/milk/cake) and fresh flowers, on arrival.
  • Street Parking plus a large car park close to Wren’s Nest.(Visitors Parking Pass, for Street parking).
  • Dogs, by prior arrangement only (see prices for additional charge).
  • Unsuitable for disabled persons (stairs in both cottages).
  • Visitors may arrive at the cottage from 3.00pm and vacate the cottage by 10.00am.
  • Tourist information / Books / Amusements for children etc provided.
  • Bookings are normally taken from Saturday commencement dates.


The following attractions are easily accessible:

  • Kenilworth Castle (a short stroll from either cottage).
  • Abbey fields, large open space formerly used as common grazing land, now given over to parkland with swimming pools, tennis courts, children’s play area and lake (5 minutes walk).
  • Stratford upon Avon, William Shakespeare's birth place (14 miles).
  • Warwick Castle (5 miles).
  • Coventry Cathedral (6 miles).
  • Royal Leamington Spa (5 miles).
  • Cotswold Country (15 miles).
  • Stoneleigh Park. (3 miles)
  • National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham (10 miles).
  • National Convention Centre, Birmingham. (20 miles).
  • Warwick University & Arts Centre (3 miles).
  • Many stately homes and gardens close by (including many National Trust properties).


The Priory Theatre and the Talisman Theatre are fine amateur companies situated in Kenilworth. Further afield is Stratford upon Avon Royal Shakespeare Theatre, Warwick University Arts Centre and the Belgrade Theatre in Coventry. 

There are also multiplex cinemas in Leamington Spa and Coventry.


There are numerous public footpaths and bridleways to be explored.

Eating and Drinking

There are many restaurants, pubs and cafes to suit all tastes and pockets, which you will discover for yourself. The following are all within short walking distance:

  • Nearby pubs serving food - Clarendon Arms, Queen & Castle, Abbey Fields Restaurant, Virgins & Castle, The Cross & Harringtons on the Hill Restaurant.
  • Nearby teashop - “Time for Tea" & “Alexa Lauren Patisserie”.


Some local shops are to be found close by; the town centre is within one mile. (Main Supermarkets are: Waitrose and Sainsbury's .)

Post Office

  • The nearest post office is in Bridge Street, close to Wren’ Nest.
  • The GPO is situated in the town centre, a distance of one mile.


  • Nearest C of E Church is St. Nicholas Church off High Street.
  • Nearest RC Church is St. Augustine’s in Beehive Hill, a distance of one mile.
  • There are also several other churches of various denominations.
